Home for
a Stronger
Catawba

As our county’s only non-profit builder, Habitat Catawba Valley drives the conversation around affordable housing to educate representatives so they are able to make informed decisions, to engage our leaders in thinking creatively and innovatively about the future of housing in our community, to empower homeowners to make their voices heard, and to ensure everyone has a pathway to safe, decent, affordable housing. Because we know that strong and stable homes build strong and stable communities. By advocating with Habitat, you lend your voice to a movement that will instate smart housing policy and a system that lets us bring homeownership within reach of more people.

Cost Of Home

Families all across the United States are paying too high a price to cover the cost of home. In Catawba County, nearly 1 in 5 households is cost-burdened. Of those cost-burdened households, 30.9% of renters faced an eviction filing and 2.1% of homeowners faced a foreclosure in the last year alone.

Wages aren’t keeping up with skyrocketing rent and home costs. This leaves more and more families without the personal and economic stability that safe, decent and afford housing provides, and forces them into impossible choices.

When the cost of home is a family’s future, it’s a price we can’t afford to pay.

That’s why we’re committed to mobilizing our partners, volunteers, and community members to find solutions and help create policies that will increase access to affordable housing for Catawba Valley families. It’s all part of Habitat for Humanity’s first national advocacy campaign: Cost of Home.
