Cost Of Home
Families all across the United States are paying too high a price to cover the cost of home. In Catawba County, nearly 1 in 5 households is cost-burdened. Of those cost-burdened households, 30.9% of renters faced an eviction filing and 2.1% of homeowners faced a foreclosure in the last year alone.
Wages aren’t keeping up with skyrocketing rent and home costs. This leaves more and more families without the personal and economic stability that safe, decent and afford housing provides, and forces them into impossible choices.
When the cost of home is a family’s future, it’s a price we can’t afford to pay.
That’s why we’re committed to mobilizing our partners, volunteers, and community members to find solutions and help create policies that will increase access to affordable housing for Catawba Valley families. It’s all part of Habitat for Humanity’s first national advocacy campaign: Cost of Home.
