Her greatest source of inspiration throughout the Habitat journey has been her daughter, who just completed her first year of kindergarten. Motherhood is Anya’s proudest achievement:
“There’s nothing like it and the job is nonstop…always challenging but so rewarding!”
Anya – Habitat Homeowner
On Friday, June 26, new Habitat homeowner, Anya, closed on her home and began a new chapter of stability and security. That is what homeownership brings to a family.
Anya and her six-year-old daughter, Kaniya, will experience the life-changing impact of knowing their home will be the foundation for their future and the place where their biggest dreams can take shape. Anya is a single mother who discovered Habitat Catawba Valley’s homeownership program and was determined to start over, gain independence, and become a homeowner.
A family member who owns a Habitat home inspired her to apply to Habitat Catawba Valley’s homeownership program. “This milestone is what I need to push myself to keep achieving more things in life, such as going back to college and gaining a better skilled job”, Anya says.
After signing her closing papers, Anya walked into her new home to find Habitat staff waiting to welcome her, along with the furniture she had so thoughtfully designed. Her smile was contagious, and her relief was palpable—she was home. Moments like this would not be possible without the support of our donors, volunteers, ReStore shoppers, staff, and our corporate partners. You too can build hope and support homeowners like Anya:
A special thank you to Zack Taylor and all of the Wesley Hall employees for supporting Anya as a Home Sponsor. Wesley Hall employees stepped up in an amazing way by helping to fund this sponsorship as an internal community support initiative. As a welcome home gift, they generously donated a new sofa, chair, and ottoman, designed in collaboration with Anya. Thank you so much for your support, Wesley Hall!
