ReStore Coordinator

Reporting to the ReStore Manager, the ReStore Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, leading and supporting the volunteers within the ReStore; supporting general store operations and communications while championing teamwork and team cohesiveness. Additional duties include (but are not limited to): safety, receiving, processing and determining merchandise readiness and the worthiness of donations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Assist customers with questions, concerns and general inquiries in a professional manner;
  2. Maintain and cultivate a friendly and courteous environment within the ReStore that includes greeting ReStore customers in a friendly and courteous manner when they enter the store as well as during check out;
  3. Answer incoming calls and respond to emails in a timely manner. Direct calls and/or emails to the appropriate staff member(s). As applicable, take detailed messages including full name, phone number and what the call is regarding and provide to the appropriate team member;
  4. Maintain organization of the Cashiers station and registers as well as stocking the supplies for those areas as needed;
  5. Accurately and effectively perform all activities associated with the register/front desk area that includes following customer service procedures as well as assisting the volunteer cashiers during busy times and/or in the absence of a volunteer cashier;
  6. Schedule the ReStore truck for donation pick-ups at customer homes, clearly explain the process and policy related to acceptable donation items and coordinate easy pick-up access at each donor site;
  7. Recruit volunteers, schedule volunteers, log volunteer hours served and support the volunteers throughout the store in all areas;
  8. Work with the ReStore Manager to develop volunteer recruitment and retention programs;
  9. Provide orientation sessions and training for volunteers to ensure safe and effective job performance through ongoing communication and on-the-job guidance;
  10. Update store signage with appropriate information related to hours of operation, closings, specials, sales and other related information for the promotion of the ReStore;
  11. Ensure that the ReStore and all working areas are safe, clean and free of debris for all staff members, volunteers and customers;
  12. Participate in the general upkeep and cleanliness of the store including (but not limited to): emptying trash and recycling both inside and outside the store, breaking down cardboard boxes, cleaning bathrooms and sweeping floors;
  13. Assist the General Manager with suggestions, feedback and present creative updates for the ReStore social media pages and submit Instagram and Twitter posts that are within the guidelines of the Marketing plan;
  14. Work cohesively with the ReStore Manager and ReStore General Manager to complete tasks related to merchandising, retail space and safety as well as promote the Mission of Habitat for Humanity;
  15. Participate in required department or affiliate-wide meetings, events, professional development, training and process improvement; and
  16. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley
  • Associates or Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to lead, mentor and direct volunteers
  • Previous experience working with volunteers in a non-profit environment
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to defuse challenging situations with tact and professionalism;
  • Previous retail/customer service management experience preferred
  • Attention to detail and mathematical skills
  • Self-starter with a positive and pro-active approach
  • Multi-tasking and practical problem-solving capabilities
  • Flexibility and adaptability to be able to perform all ReStore tasks in the absence of staff and/or volunteers
  • Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Effective interpersonal skills within a diverse environment including good listening skills with the ability to empathize with others

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The majority of the work is done inside an office and retail environment.
Must be able to:

  • Stand or walk for the majority of a work day, including working on uneven surfaces
  • Apply physical mobility, including reaching, lifting, holding, pushing and pulling, carrying, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, and arm and/or leg extension
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Maneuver within the office and ReStore areas
